The role charter
Sustainability Lead
A designated responsibility, held alongside a senior operational role — reporting to the CEO, with annual visibility to the Board.
The named individual accountable for turning Cloud23's environmental and social commitments into measured, reported, improving reality — across our own operations and, where we can influence them, our clients' technology choices.
Responsibilities
- Own the Environmental Policy and maintain the annual baseline — energy, travel, device lifecycle, waste.
- Run the certified e-waste disposal and device-donation programme.
- Coordinate skills-development, graduate and learnership initiatives against our transformation objectives.
- Keep a due-diligence-ready evidence pack for client RFPs and supplier onboarding.
- Produce the quarterly leadership dashboard and the annual Board report.
Year-one success
- A published baseline with one achieved reduction target.
- 100% of end-of-life devices redeployed, donated or certified-recycled.
- A due-diligence pack kept audit-ready.
- At least one client engagement demonstrably steered to a lower-footprint architecture.

The annual review cycle
Every policy here carries a review date and is re-approved at least annually. The performance statement is re-issued every twelve months with movement against every number — including the ones that went the wrong way. We comply with environmental law in every operating country, including NEMA and e-waste regulations in South Africa, and require certified disposal partners by contract.
