Cloud23 designs and builds enterprise integration on MuleSoft, using API-led architecture to connect Salesforce with core banking, payments, identity and legacy systems for regulated businesses across Africa and beyond.
MuleSoft is Salesforce's integration and API management platform — a single environment for designing, building, securing and operating the APIs that connect enterprise systems. Cloud23 delivers MuleSoft integration programmes end to end: API strategy and architecture, Anypoint Platform foundations, API build and testing, and long-run operation of the integration estate. Much of our work connects Salesforce to the systems that sit behind it — core banking, payments, KYC and identity services, and long-lived legacy applications.
API-led connectivity is the architectural approach at the heart of MuleSoft: APIs are organised into three reusable layers — system APIs that expose source systems, process APIs that orchestrate business logic across them, and experience APIs shaped for specific channels. Built this way, each integration becomes an asset the next project reuses rather than a one-off cost, and change in any single system stops rippling through everything connected to it.
Integration is usually where digital programmes succeed or stall. Cloud23's onboarding work for Capitec's business banking, for example, depended on reliable integration with core banking and governmental systems — the journeys customers see are only as good as the connections beneath them. Our integration practice is led by senior MuleSoft architects and delivered by teams across Johannesburg, Hyderabad and Bucharest.
What you get
An assessment of your current integration landscape and a sequenced roadmap of APIs to build, organised around the business journeys they enable.
Target integration architecture covering the system, process and experience API layers, security patterns, error handling and non-functional requirements.
MuleSoft environment setup done properly: business groups, environments, access control, logging, monitoring and CI/CD pipelines for API deployment.
Specification-first API development — contracts agreed before build — with automated testing and documentation published to an internal API catalogue.
Runbooks, alerting thresholds and support procedures so the integration estate can be operated confidently, by your team or ours.
API standards, review gates and a catalogue that make reuse the default, so the second project moves faster than the first.
How we work
We map the systems, data flows and existing integrations in scope, and identify the journeys that depend on them, before proposing any architecture.
We design the target API-led architecture and specify the first tranche of APIs as contracts, agreed with your architects and security teams.
We stand up or harden Anypoint Platform: environments, governance, monitoring and automated deployment pipelines.
APIs are built in short cycles against their agreed contracts, with automated functional and performance testing, and integrated early with consuming applications.
We manage the transition into production — with parallel running where warranted — and tune performance, alerting and failover behaviour under real load.
After go-live, the estate can pass to your team with full documentation, or continue under a Cloud23 managed service that maintains and extends it.

FAQ
MuleSoft is Salesforce's integration and API management platform, built around Anypoint Platform — a single environment for designing, building, deploying and monitoring APIs and integrations. It is used to connect applications, data and devices across cloud and on-premise systems, and is particularly common in enterprises connecting Salesforce to core operational systems.
API-led connectivity is an integration architecture that organises APIs into three layers: system APIs that unlock data from source systems, process APIs that compose them into business capabilities, and experience APIs tailored to specific channels or applications. The point is reuse — each API is built once and consumed by many projects, which compounds delivery speed over time.
Not always. Salesforce offers native integration options, and for a small number of simple connections they can be enough. MuleSoft earns its place when integrations multiply: several consumers of the same data, real-time and batch patterns side by side, strict security and audit requirements, or legacy systems that need careful abstraction. We advise honestly on which situation you are in.
Yes. We regularly assess and remediate MuleSoft implementations built by other teams — reviewing architecture, performance, security and reuse — and can take on ongoing development and support as a managed service.
Security and auditability are designed in from the contract stage: encryption in transit and at rest, token-based access control, full audit logging and data-residency awareness. Our largest integration engagements have been for banks, where these constraints are the baseline rather than an add-on.
It depends on scope, but a platform foundation with the first working APIs is typically a matter of months, not a year. We sequence delivery so the first business journey goes live early and each subsequent one benefits from the APIs already built.
